Este é um desenho que fiz especialmente para a minha namorada Fernanda, eu sempre soube que ela gostava Naruto, mas só um ano depois mais ou menos que a gente começou a namorar eu percebi que ela realmente adorava o desenho. Ai resolvi comprar alguns mangas pra ela, dando uma folheada acabei gostando pra caramba do personagem mesmo nunca tendo vindo um só episódio do desenho. Bem, voltando ao assunto do desenho eu fiz ele a lápis e pintei no Corel Painter com um reforço final no Photoshop.

This is a draw that I made for my girlfriend Fernanda, I always knew that she likes the Naruto, but only after one year after I discovered that she realy loves the anime. And then I began to bought some mangas to her, I read a little and finished loving the character, even never saw an episode. Back to the draw, I made this one in pencils and colorized in Corel Painter and Photoshop.

Eu nunca vi muita graça no Homem de Ferro até ler a versão Ultimate dos Vingadores (the Ultimates), dentre todos os ótimos personagens da série o Homem de Ferro era o mais divertido. Depois veio a série dos Novos Vingadores e o filme (a melhor adaptação de HQs na minha opinião) ai sim acabei virando fã do personagem. Este desenho foi feito em óleo sobre papel com grande ajuda da minha professora Mônica.

I never liked the IronMan. But when i read the Ultimates series I liked him so much, he was the funniest of the comic´s excellent characters. And before, came the New Avengers series and the IronMan movie (the best in my opinion) and I became a fan of the character. This draw was made with oils inks with great help of my teacher Mônica.

Este é mais um desenho que fiz na Domma, desta vez para a Orquestra Comunitária da Unicamp. O job era uma capa e rótulo de DVD. Fiz o desenho a lápis, fiz o resto no Photoshop, depois apliquei o fundo e o layout do DVD.

This is another one that I made in Domma, this time for “Orquesta Comunitária da Unicamp” The job was a cover and label for DVD. I made the draw in pencils and the rest in Photoshop, in the end I applied the background and DVD layout.

Esse com certeza foi um dos trabalhos mais divertidos que já fiz: desenhar toda série de livros infantis para a rede de escolas de idiomas Yeski (e depois para a Skill). Toda temática vinha diretamente do fundo do mar. Estes são alguns dos personagens.

O Joker, o Coringa, o Palhaço...

Existem três coisas que um desenhista de quadrinhos certamente já desenhou na vida: o Homem Aranha, o Wolverine e o Batman. No meu primeiro desenho em óleo sobre papel, resolvi retratar o Coringa, e no fim das contas inclui o Batman também. Agora posso dizer que já desenhei os três, mesmo o morcego estando de coadjuvante no desenho.

There´s three things that a comic book drawer certainly made in his life: the Spider-man, Wolverine and Batman. In my first oil on paper draw I decided make the Joker, and in the end I decided draw Batman too. Now I can say that I draw the three, even the bat being in the second role in the scene.

A Priscila que fazia aula de desenho comigo manda muito bem (dá uma olhada no blog dela), ela faz tudo que é técnica mas tem uma em especial que eu achava muito massa, era o Sépia e Sanguínea. Eu já estava acabando o curso, tinha só mais uma aula sobrando para fazer e resolvi tentar a técnica. Pedi para a Monica, minha professora, me ensinar e acabei gostando pra caramba.

Já o gorila foi porque eu quis sair do lugar comum "Leão/Cavalo/Cachorro". Não tem nada a ver com quadrinhos ou filmes.

Priscila, who used to made draw course with me, really rocks (take a look in her blog), she make a lot of techniques, but there´s one ins special which I liked muche more, its “Sepia and Sanguine”. I´m ending the course, had one more class to do and decided to try that technique. I asked my teacher Monica to teach me, and I really liked it.

The Gorilla was because I wanted to escape from common: lion, dog or horse. There´s nothing about comics or movies.

Vampira em lápis e aquarela

Certo dia tentei pegar um foto do Google e tentar trabalhar as sombras só com o lápis e depois passar a aquarela por cima. Mas ai não em contentei em só copiar o desenho e transformei a foto na Vampira, ai mudei de idéia quanto a aquarela e resolvi ficar só no lápis. Ao no meio do caminho pensei “pô e se ela roubasse o poder de alguém?” (a melhor coisa de desenhar a Vampira). O Gambit foi a escolha mais obvia pra mim, ai pensei em colocar o baralho na mão dela, e voltei atrás na parte da aquarela, pelo menos nos detalhes já que o Gambit tem olhos vermelhos e a fumaça das cartas que ele energiza é meio rosada, da um efeito legal com o pb. Bem e é isso.

One Day a tried to get a photo from Google and work only the shadows with pencils and use watercolor before. But I was not happy only coping the draw and transformed in Rogue, then I changed my mind about watercolor. In the middle of the way I think “Hew she can stole somebody´s power.” (the best thing in draw Rogue). Gambit was the most obvious choice for me, and I change my mind again and used the watercolor in details, Gambit has red eyes and his card´s smoke is pink, that´s a nice effect with black and white. Well and that is it.

Quando o jornal da APP ficou a cargo da Domma, a Sirlene minha chefe deixou a gente sugerir dar idéias para melhorar a publicação. Eu falei que uma charge ficaria bem legal e ela me deixou inaugurar o espaço. Esse é o resultado que vocês estão vendo. Só quem trabalha com criação conhece o dilema retratado.

When the APP Newspaper became Domma´s responsability, my boss Sirlene let us give some suggestions for the Project. I said that an illustration was a good idea and she let me made the first draw. This is the result. Only the creative knows the drama retreated.

The Client says “See how the art is better with my suggestion? Now grows the logotype and make a test changing that font, that line…”

Heart of the Darkness

The Darkness. Eu nunca tinha lido nada sobre este personagem até jogar o jogo homônimo para o XBox 360. Claro que a história do jogo não é exatamente idêntica a dos quadrinhos, mas ambas são fantásticas. Para fugir um pouco do pacote Marvel / DC eu fiz este desenho em acrílico.

The Darkness. I´ve never read anything about this character until the day I played the homonymous game for Xbox 360. Of course, the game´s story is not the same of the comics, but the both are awesome. To escape a little of Marvel / DC package I made this draw in acrylic.

Camiseta publicitária nostalgica

Quem é da minha geração com certeza já teve uma camiseta da Side Play, aquelas que geralmente vinham com um desenho do Taz na frente e as costas dele atrás. Bem foi com essa idéia que eu e o Jones tentamos aprovar essa camiseta para a APP Campinas (nossa associação de publicitários. Estranhamente a diretoria não aprovou a idéia, mas rendeu uma bela peça para o portfólio.

Who is from my generation, certainly already has a Side Play T-Shirt, the ones who brings a Taz draw in front, and his back in back. Well, that was the idea which I and Jones tried to approve in a t-shirt for APP Campinas (our Admen association). It was strange that the directors weren’t approved the idea, but it’s a nice piece for my portfolio*

Note: In bull´s back, the expression “Me coma” means “Eat me”

Qual é o bicho?

Essa é mais uma das antigas 2007, quando comecei a trabalhar na Domma, o Jones (o cara que trabalha comigo) teve uma idéia de um anuncio para um cliente nosso e me pediu um desenho da natureza que formasse a imagem de um animal silvestre. Eu usei um papel vegetal sobre uma foto de uma onça e fiz a paisagem, passei lápis e depois nanquim. Por fim o Jones terminou aplicando o desenho no layout.

One more of the old ones, 2007. When I began to work in Domma, Jones (the guy who works with me) has an idea for an advertising for a client of our and asked me to draw a nature´s picture which form a Brazilian animal. I use “vegetal” paper over an oz´s photo and draw the nature, I use pencil and before Indian ink. In the end Jones applied the draw in layout.

Harvey duas caras

Todo mundo adora o Coringa, mas eu em particular sempre fui facinado pelo visual do Duas-Caras. Não sei se é aquela dualidade visível entre o bem e o mal ou se a ideia genial do terno que ele usa, mas com certeza não é por causa da interpretação do Tommy Lee Jones em Batman Eternamente.

Esse foi meu terceiro desenho em tinta acrílica, e fiz em uns papeis MontVal que achei perdidos no meu guarda roupa.

Everybody loves the Joker, but I have always been fascinated by Two-Face's likeness. I don't know if it's because the visible duality between good and evil or the genial idea of his outfit, but certainly it's not because Tommy Lee Jones' participation in Batman Forever.

That was my third drawing with acrylic ink, and I made it in some lost MontVal paper that I've found in my wardrobe.

Na minha humilde opinião de ilustrador e marvette, o melhor capista da atualidade é um cara chamado Marko Djurdjevic - dá uma olhada no trabalho do cara e me diz se ele não é fera? - Bem, mas o que isso tem a ver com meus desenhos?

Bem, quando fui fazer meu segundo desenho em acrílico, meu professor Marcos me pediu para usar como referência um desenho que já existia para eu poder captar melhor as cores. Como não é segredo que eu admiro muito o trabalho do Marko, eu usei a capa do Thor #8 como referência.

In my marvette and illustrator humble opinion, today's best cover drawer is a guy named Marko Djurdjevic - take a look at his draws and let me know if the guy is not a master? - Well, but what this have to do with my draws?

Well, when I was going to made my second acrylic drawing, my professor Marcos ask me to use a existed drawing as reference, to caption the colors better. As there's no secret that I like Marko's work very much, I used the Thor # 8 cover as a reference.

O polêmico mago caipira

Essa é uma das novas e tem uma história engraçada. Para a campanha da Festa Junina da Saúde, promovida pelo Sinsaúde deste ano, eu desenhei o mascote da entidade vestido de caipira (clássico), e fiz a pintura digital no Photoshop.
Não ficaram muito felizes com o esboço inicial (para ser sincero, nem eu), mas graças a pintura (e os argumentos da minha chefe) todo mundo ficou muito feliz com o resultado final. Quase todo mundo, porque alguém disparou a pérola: "Essa imagem de caipira já caiu por terra, não se usa mais."

Tudo bem, na campanha do ano que vem eu desenho ele vestido de astronauta...

This is among the news and it has a funny history. For “Festa Junina” campaign, promoted this year by Sinsaúde, I draw their mascot using a “caipira” costume (classic) and made the digital painting using Photoshop.

They were not very happy with the initial sketches, but after the digital painting (and my boss' arguments) everybody became happy with the final result. Almost everybody, because somebody says: “This 'caipira' image is old-fashioned, it's not in use anymore.”

Ok, next year's campaign I´ll draw him using an astronaut costume…

Peinture numérique, mon ami

Mais uma das antigas, finalzinho de 2006. Quem me conhece sabe que o Gambit é meu personagem favorito. Para desenhar o cajun eu tentei seguir um tutorial que ensinava a pintar no Photoshop. E la fui eu com meu mouse em mãos (coragem) tentar seguir o tutorial. Com algumas tentativas e uns plugins de fumaça este é o resultado que vocês podem conferir.

That's an old one, late 2006. Anyone who knows me knows that Gambit is my favorite character. To draw the cajun I tried to follow a tutorial who teaches how to paint using the Photoshop. And there I go with my mouse in hands (courage), trying to follow the tutorial. With some attempts and smoke pluggins, you can check the result.

Primo e seus primórdios em Óleo sobre tela

Bem minha primeira postagem neste blog é sobre a minha primeira experiencia com tinta a óleo. Depois de tanto desenhar Wolverines, Gambits e Homens Aranha, meu professor na época, Dag Lemos sugeriu eu tentar pintar alguma paisagem com óleo. E cara, eu gostei tanto do resultado que fiz dois quadros que guardo até hoje que são esses que vocês podem conferir abaixo.

My first post in this blog is about my first experience with oil link. After drawing plenty of Wolverines, Gambits and Spidermans, my teacher Dag Lemos suggested me trying to paint something with oil. And, man, I liked the result so much that I made two more paintings and I keep them up until now. You can take a look on them below.
